CURTIS W. SANDAHL, DDS
“ When I graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry, my mission statement was simple. TO SAVE TEETH. My goal was to help people have healthy teeth , not be in pain and have confidence when they smiled. The advances that have been made in dentistry with the understanding of decay and periodontal disease, has only increased our ability to save teeth. When a tooth just can’t be saved, implant technology has given us an excellent replacement solution.
I chose to be in a traditional private practice over a dental clinic because the clinic setting just didn’t align with how I wanted to practice dentistry. Having spoken with colleges and having spent some time in a clinical setting, to me it seemed too much emphasis was placed on quantity over quality of dentistry. I love the one-on-one interaction and the time I can spend with my patients that the private practice allows me. My patients feel like family. By spending the time I need to treat your dental needs, I know I’m doing everything to the best of my ability to provide you the best dental care I can.
My mission statement has expanded from saving teeth to SAVING LIVES. Bruxism, the grinding and clenching of your teeth, we used to think was mainly due to stress or an improper bite. The effects of acid reflex on your teeth we thought was caused by stress or the types of food you ate. We now know that obstruction to your airway, known as Obstructive Sleep Apnea, while you are sleeping may be the underlying cause of many dental conditions we see in your mouth. I am excited that I can offer patients a free and simple overnight sleep test, done in your own bed to test for two things. Bruxism and Obstructive Sleep Apnea. Depending upon the results of the test, I may be able to offer treatment solutions or refer you to an appropriate healthcare professional.
